Behind the Cellar Door Imports is a boutique wine importing and distribution company focused on sourcing distinctive, high‑quality wines from independent producers around the world. Antica Fratta
Antica Fratta is one of the historic names of Franciacorta, Italy’s most prestigious region for traditional-method sparkling wine. Located in Monticelli Brusati, in the heart of Franciacorta’s rolling hills, the estate traces its roots to a 19th-century cellar carved into the rock, originally built in 1850. Since 1979, Antica Fratta has focused on producing refined, bottle-aged Franciacorta with an emphasis on elegance, freshness, and precision. The estate works with vineyards spread across roughly 30 hectares, drawing from different hillside sites and valley locations to create wines with balance, depth, and a clear sense of place. For customers familiar with Champagne, Franciacorta offers a useful comparison: it is made using the same traditional method but expresses the character of northern Italy’s Lombardy region.
